They are sturdy, accurate, and economical. You can still buy them brand new for about $650 because they are perfect for co-auditing up the Bridge or for doing a pinch test while disseminating.   I bought this one new in 1971 with the tone arm counter option (you can see it attached to the tone arm), and audited with it for several years. Since then it has been safely stored away. I just charged it up for the first time in a long time and it seemed at first to be holding the charge just fine, but, when I checked again several days later, the battery had discharged. This caught me by surprise, but shouldn't have since e-meter literature states that if you don't charge it every 6 months or so the battery may be ruined. However, MarkV's, like any e-meter that is to be used, should be certified before usage, and Golden Era Productions still certifies the MarkV for which they charge $185. The certification process includes installing new batteries.   The meter is in very good condition and comes with two cans, can leads, and charging cord. I don’t have the calibration resistors, but they can be easily purchased inexpensively. Plus, I’m throwing in 4 classic L. Ron Hubbard e-meter books:  The Book Introducing the E-Meter (this is essentially an owner’s manual for the Mark V); E-Meter Essentials 1961 (this book is loaded with explanations for every aspect of the Mark V); The Book of E-Meter Drills; and The Book of Case Remedies.
